OAK CITY– A tip to Bertie County law enforcement officials led to the discovery of six pounds of marijuana.
Bertie County Sheriff John Holley said his office received a tip about a vehicle that was transporting the illegal substance and coordinated with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, the Williamston Police Department and the Windsor Police Department to make the arrest.
Holley said two men were stopped in a vehicle on N.C. 11 near Oak City and found in possession of the marijuana.
Charged are Larry G. Williams, 40, and Larry J. Williams, 33, both of Medson Lee Roadin Aulander. The two men were placed in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under $6,000 secured bond, each charged with possession with intent to sell, manufacture and deliver.
“We appreciate the tip,” Holley said. “As always, we encourage the citizens to continue providing information to us.”
Holley said he was also pleased with his arresting officers – Narcotics Sgt. Dwayne Outlaw and Narcotics Officer Martin Phelps – for their work in the case.
“We also appreciate the way each of the departments worked together in this situation,” Holley said. “It was a true joint effort among the agencies.”
