AULANDER – Robert Alvin “Bobby” Maxham, age 87, died on January 2, 2016 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Maxham was born in Hertford County, NC on August 3, 1928, a son of the late Basil and Kathleen Dunning Maxham.  He attended church at St. Johns Baptist Church and was retired as a Supervisor from NC DOT.

Bobby loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.  He was a loving, generous man who was very devoted to family and friends. As his health declined and his physical activities lessened, you could often find Bobby reading his Bible, accompanied by his cat, Grady.

Beside his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his loving wife, Colleen Rawls Maxham; and a sister, Anne Tillett.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Robin M. Bland of Aulander, NC; his grandson, Christian C. Bland of Aulander, NC; and his three sisters, Roselyn Phelps of Gloucester, VA, Mary M. Belle of Disputanta, VA, and Kathy Dare Maxham of St. John, NC.

The family will receive friends at any time, at the home of Mr. Maxham’s daughter, Robin Bland, 511 Carroll St., Aulander, NC.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, NC, with Rev. Bob Skeens officiating.
