Girlen W. Pierce

EURE, NC – Girlen Divata Wall Pierce, 89, of 188 Corner High Road, Eure, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from her sister’s home in Eure where she was surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Pierce was born in Hertford County on October 28, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Lee Wood and Sybil Ella Burgess Wall. Formerly employed at both Boone’s Pharmacy and Capps Daniels Drug Store, she retired as the owner of Girlen’s Boutique in Ahoskie. She was a faithful and founding member of Ahoskie Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Pierce; her son, Gregory Pierce; sisters, Kathleen Lassiter and Stella Burgess; and by brothers, Jay, Stanley, and Charles Wall.

Surviving are her son, Tim Pierce of Ahoskie; her grandchildren, Jason Pierce and Jessica Hall; her great-grandchildren, Bella Pierce, Emma Grace Hall, and Lily Faith Hall; two sisters, Elizabeth Drake of Newsome, VA and Olethia Taylor of Eure; and her brother, Allen Wall of Elizabeth City.

A Celebration of her Life will be held Friday, February 9, at 2:00 p.m. in Ahoskie Free Will Baptist Church and will be conducted by Pastor Joshua Butler and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Burial will follow in the Ahoskie Cemetery.

Friends may join the family in the church the hour prior to services on Friday, and all other times at the home of her sister, Olethia Taylor, 006 Depot Road, Eure.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the many acts of love offered by the Eure Baptist Church family during this time of Girlen’s declining health and illness.
