Harmon’s contribution to the club as Home Life Program Chair, the Healthy Women Campaign Chair, and her leadership and participation in numerous projects makes her an excellent and worthy choice.  Her leadership in the Healthy Women’s Projects included inviting Dr. Brad Jones as a speaker on Heart Health to a club meeting and leading the club members to participate in the Vidant Healthy Heart Event in February. She also led the club in assisting Hertford County Cooperative Extension in hosting Speedway to Health.  The Speedway to Health is a 1200-foot exhibit provided by North Carolina A&T State University to educate children on how food and activities play a part in their health.  This year, 1st and 3rd graders in Hertford County experienced the exhibit and women’s club members had fun teaching some of information about each part of the body.

Harmon is also in charge of the club’s Facebook page, and enthusiastically helps in all that is asked of her.  She also loves photography as shown by her entries and awards in the Club’s Art Festival. She has won numerous awards and loves participating. Serving as the district awards chair this year, she did a great job organizing the entries and judges to determine the district awards.

In the larger community, she is an active member of First Baptist Church in Ahoskie, a member of the Chamber Women, and the Kiwanis Club.  She also serves in Meals on Wheels, works at the local food pantry in the backpack for children project, and is a Life Skills Teacher in the Roanoke Chowan Christian Woman’s Job Corps. In addition to all of this, she is a veteran and served in the Army as a Military Policeman.

When she is not doing these activities, you will find her with her family.

She definitely makes a positive impact on the local community and the club, and is a most deserving choice as the Ahoskie Woman’s Club Outstanding Clubwoman of 2019.
