ACS wins opener
AHOSKIE – Ahoskie Christian School used a four-run outburst in the bottom of the third inning to break a 1-1 tie en route to an 8-6 win over Cornerstone Christian Academy in their softball season opener here March 10.
The Lady Warriors used a homerun off the bat of Kaitlyn Parker and a run-scoring single by Madison Blowe to highlight their four-run uprising in the third inning.
Ahoskie Christian built an 8-2 lead in the home half of the fourth and then withstood a Cornerstone rally.
Ahoskie Christian’s offense enjoyed a productive opening game by collecting 16 hits. Blowe led that effort with two singles and a pair of doubles. Parker added a single and a double to go along with her homerun.
Kalynn Wallace chipped in a triple and a double. Carly Piland and Kelsey Temple each contributed a pair of singles.
Layla Farmer, Belle Wadsworth, and Morgan Wadsworth each had a single for the Lady Warriors.
Parker went the distance on the mound for Ahoskie Christian. She allowed 11 hits, but also fanned 11 batters.
