WOODLAND – Margaret Bolton Edwards, age 86, of Collier Road, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at her home after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles M. Edwards. She passed away on what was their wedding anniversary date, July 26th. They would have celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Mrs. Edwards was born on April 1, 1934 to Joshua Lemuel Bolton and Fannie Belle Lassiter Bolton in Northampton County, NC. Margaret was retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections. She was a member of Creeksville Baptist Church. She was a former resident of Winton, North Carolina (40 years) and former member of the Winton Baptist Church. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Besides her parents and loving husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, James L. Bolton.

Margaret is survived by her, daughter, Connie Gail Piland and husband Carl Henry Piland of Woodland; son, Mike Edwards and wife Karen W. Edwards of Gallatin, TN; five grandchildren, Leigh Piland, Clay Piland and wife Tammy, Chris Edwards and wife Emily, Kristen Barrineau and husband Jason, and Courtney Pierce and husband Aaron; eight great-grandchildren and one due in November.

The family will observe a private graveside service at the Bolton Family Cemetery, Woodland, NC, at the home place, with her son, Rev. Mike Edwards officiating.
