Several streets in Ahoskie are blocked off at this time as an investigation is underway regarding a shooting.

The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald was able to gain some information as to the incident. Early reports indicate that the driver of a vehicle was shot as he traveled north on Catherine Street, less than one block from Main Street.

That vehicle came to rest in an area before reaching the Catherine Street intersection.

The medical condition of the victim was not immediately made available. He was rushed to the hospital.

Hertford County Sheriff Dexter Hayes was among the numerous law enforcement personnel on the scene. He told the News-Herald that at least two individuals were detained for questioning, but no arrests had been made as of 6:55 p.m.

The News-Herald will have more on this story as additional details are made available.
