MURFREESBORO – Following an investigation by the Murfreesboro Police Department, the suspect in last week’s Speedway convenience store robbery has been identified.

Traquan Edwards

Arrest warrants have been issued for Traquan Edwards, 22, of Colerain. Edwards is a 5’6’’ Black male who is known to frequent Woodland and parts of Bertie County.

The robbery occurred around 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21 when a suspect entered the Speedway located on the corner of Main Street and Spring Avenue in Murfreesboro, brandished a pistol, and then took an undisclosed amount of money from the clerk on duty. The suspect then left on foot.

The warrants for Edwards include one felony (robbery with a dangerous weapon) and two misdemeanors (assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats).

Murfreesboro Police Chief David Griffith commended MPD Capt. Jamie Dilday for his thorough investigation on the case.

Griffith urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Edwards to contact the police department at 252-398-4151 or their nearest law enforcement agency. Edwards is considered armed and dangerous, according to Chief Griffith.
