WINTON – With a week left before filing ends, there is still only one candidate for the Hertford County Board of Education.
Two school board seats will be on the ballot in the November General Election and filing for those seats is currently underway. It will continue through 12 noon on Friday, August 3.
Board member J. Wendell Hall filed to retain his seat on the board. He has served on the Hertford County Board of Education since 2000.
The other seat is held by school board chairman David L. Shields. While he has not filed, Shields has indicated he intends to seek reelection.
Those wishing to seek a position on the school board can do so by going to the Hertford County Elections office. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
