AHOSKIE – ‘Living Pink’ is the theme for this year’s Pink Power Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon sponsored by Vidant Health on Thursday, Oct. 19. The event is located this year at the Ahoskie Inn and begins at 12 noon.
The keynote speaker this year is Sheri Prentiss, MD, MPH, a physician and cancer survivor.
“Prepare to be inspired by Dr. Sheri,” says Lisa Newsome, M.Ed., director of community relations at the hospital. “She’s a proven visionary, author and highly sought after physician leader and public health expert.”
Dr. Prentiss is a Susan G. Komen Foundation leader and has been featured in the New England Journal of Medicine, MORE, Essence, Oxygen and Chicago Tribune, in addition to many TV and radio interviews. She will share her story of how she was enjoying a full life as a successful young doctor with a beautiful family when breast cancer disrupted everything and tested her strength.
Enjoy a healthy meal, receive a ‘Living Pink’ gift bag, and learn about breast cancer early detection and resources from health displays and healthcare providers in the area. The event is free, but registration is required. Register at VidantHealth.com/PinkPower or call toll free 855-MYVIDANT (855-698-4326).
