Willie R. Williams

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Willie Roger Williams, 62,

a native of Windsor, died August 15, 2003.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake.

Williams was employed with Colonial Chevrolet and other dealerships for more than 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was the president of noonday prayer. Also, he was past worshipful master, Cabella Lodge in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbi H. Williams of Chesapeake; three sons, Willie R. Williams II of Virginia Beach, Timothy N. Williams of Richmond and Mark A. Williams of Chesapeake; his mother, Mary L. Williams of Windsor; four sisters, Alice Stewart of Windsor, Mary Kilpatrick of Washington, D.C., Eva Bond and Doris Lee, both of Windsor; one brother, Julius Williams of Amityville, N.Y.

Marion D. Reaves

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Rev. Marion Davis Reaves, 75, died August 16, 2003, at Sentara Hampton General Hospital.

Reaves was the pastor of Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church in Newport News.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Bolivia, by the Rev. Naconiel Fullwood. Interment will follow in the Reaves Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday and a service from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church by Minister Irene Ashlock. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Inc., Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.

Charles Creecy Jr.

RICH SQUARE – Charles Melvin Creecy Jr., 45, died August 17, 2003. He was the widower of Ella Tillery Creecy.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Rich Square, by the Rev. William C. Clark. Smith-Whidbee Funeral Home, Rich Square, is in charge.

Creecy retired as Superintendent from the North Carolina Department of Corrections and Pasquotank Correctional Institution in Elizabeth City.

Survivors include his children, Cheri L. Creecy, Christopher T. Creecy, Cheryl M. Creecy; and a granddaughter.

Josh Hart

ROCKY MOUNT – Josh Hart, 80, died August 19, 2003.

A visitation will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Shirley McFarlin. Burial will be in the Josh Lewis Cemetery, Elm City. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount is in charge.

Jacqueline P. Allen

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Lois Jacqueline Phillips Allen, 82, a native of Gates County, died August 10, 2003. She was the widow of Lloyd Simmons Allen.

Mrs. Allen was buried in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va., on August 13, 2003, by the Rev. Don Wilson. Memorial donations can be made to the Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 2128, Virginia Beach, VA 23450. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Allen taught high school English in Hanover, Montpelier, Dinwiddie Co., public schools systems and Special Education in Norfolk for a number of years. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Kristen Lloyd Allen of Virginia Beach, Kim Jackson Allen of Kill Devil Hills and Kevin Brooke Allen of Virginia Beach; a sister, Ruth Joyce Phillips George of Colonial Heights; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

Bessie R. Thompson

WINDSOR – Bessie Rascoe Thompson, 73, a native of Bertie County, died August 16, 2003, at Bertie Memorial Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Springhill Baptist Church, Lewiston, by Bishop H. Freeman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cherry’s Funeral Home, Windsor.

Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Blanche T. White of Windsor; two son, Jeff and Jackson Thompson of Indiana and Lewiston; two brothers, Joseph Rascoe and Oscar Rascoe, both of Windsor; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
