Recipies needed for Holiday Cookbook

Published 12:00 am Monday, October 13, 2003

After many requests from readers, Roanoke-Chowan Publications is attempting to put together a special section filled with local recipes in time for the upcoming holiday season.

The main ingredient, however, is missing – we need your recipes.

We’re not asking for those top-secret gems. We’re simply asking you to reach into your box of favorites and share with us one or two of your favorite holiday recipes.

Whether it be Thanksgiving specialties, Christmas desserts or just some good wintertime goodies like hot soups, we need those recipes.

We’ll print the special section, including as many recipes as we can along with your name and the name of your town.

We’re also giving away $50 in cash.

Once we have selected all the recipes the section can hold, we’re going to take the names of those chosen and draw three lucky winners. All three recipients get $50 in cash.

It’s also a chance to win even more money. The more recipes you send in, the more chances you have of winning and the more money you could win.

For example, if you send in five recipes and we choose three to print, your name goes into the drawing three times.

We’ve had requests for years to put together a Roanoke-Chowan Cookbook and here’s where it starts.

In all, R-C Publications hopes to print multiple recipe sections this coming year, followed by a &uot;best of the best&uot; by the end of next year.

The section is sure to be a super special keepsake for anyone who is a recipe collector. And the thing is, it’s free with the purchase of the newspaper.

Watch for more information coming soon on the publication date for our first recipe section, entitled &uot;Tastes of the Holidays.&uot;

Right now though, get busy digging out several recipes and send them to:
