Riddick paces Kiwanis

AHOSKIE – Thomas Riddick struck out nine and gave up two hits in leading Kiwanis to a 21-7 Junior Little League win over WOW here Monday night.
Riddick also went 1-for-1 at the plate to help his team on the offensive end.
&uot;Thomas did an outstanding job pitching,&uot; Kiwanis coach Buddy Terry said.
Dorrien Askew also had a good day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a homerun while Bobby Merritt was also 2-for-2. Brandon Terry was 3-for-4 while Devin Moore checked in at 1-for-1.
Matthew Ireland and Grant Gattling had hits for WOW.
The win boosted Kiwanis to 4-1 on the season while WOW dropped to 1-4.
Mid-East – 11, Murfreesboro – 8
Eric Ortiz and Patrick Kirby combined for six strikeouts as Mid-East took an 11-8 victory over Murfreesboro.
Lewis Bridgers was 1-for-1 with two RBIs for Mid-East while Desmond Gatling and Marquis Holley were each 2-for-2 and Brandon Owens was 1-for-1.
Travis Sykes and B.J. Whittington were each 1-for-1 with two RBIs for Murfreesboro.
The win boosted Mid-East to 3-2 in Junior Little League competition.
Ahoskie Pediatrics – 18, Home Life 11
Ahoskie Pediatrics grabbed their first Senior Girls Softball victory by beating Home Life 18-11 here Monday night.
Brittany Pierce got the pitching victory for Ahoskie Pediatrics.
Catherine’s – 14, Ellens – 8
Miller Bryant and Brice Harrison combined to pick up a win on the mound as Catherine’s took a 14-8 Junior Girls Softball win over Ellens.
Bryant also registered a grand slam (her second of the year) wile Courtney Malone had a double and Jamille Bond a single.
Taylor McKeel and Wendy Brabble led Ellen’s with a hit each.
