Junior team falls

AHOSKIE – Roanoke Rapids Post 38 topped Ahoskie Post 102 in a Junior American Legion baseball game here Saturday afternoon.
Post 38 had eight runs in the top of the first inning and went on to a 17-3 victory.
Ahoskie answered with one run in the bottom of the first.
Jonathan Wester walked, stole second and took third on a Jonathan Brantley ground out. He scored on a wild pitch to trim the deficit to 8-1.
Roanoke Rapids added two in the top of the third to go ahead 10-1, but Post 102 responded with two of their own in the same frame.
Weter singled to right and went to second on a Robert Jacot single to left field. Wester and Jacot advanced on a Brantley groundout before Bradley Rogerson walked to load the bases.
Wester scored when Josh Morris reached on an error and Jacot came home on a Jonathan Dail RBI-single that trimmed the margin to 10-3.
Roanoke Rapids scored one in the top of the fourth and added six in the top of the seventh to establish the 17-3 final.
Brantley tossed two and one-third innings for the loss while Rogers pitched three and two-thirds. Hunt Lowe and Joe Harrell also pitched in the contest.
Ahoskie managed four hits with Wester, Jacot, Dail and Ethan Campbell having one each.
Ahoskie dropped to 0-7 with the loss and will play at Edgecombe County Saturday at 3 p.m.
