GATESVILLE – Michael Chadwick “Chad” Geddings will wait for another day in court.
An administrative hearing for Geddings, scheduled for Gates County Superior Court on Tuesday, has been moved to August 22.
The 17-year-old Gates County resident stands accused in the July 5, 2005 murder of his step-grandparents, Charles and Phyllis Dennis, both age 63, who were found shot to death in their Sawyer Road home near the Reynoldson community in the northern part of Gates County.
Tuesday’s court proceeding was held to either accept a plea from the defendant or set a trial date. According to Gates County Sheriff Ed Webb, a plea is in the works. He said the maximum sentence, as set forth by a plea arrangement, would 33 years imprisonment per count.
Geddings was arrested July 6, 2005 as he exited a Virginia Beach, Va. convenience store near the oceanfront. He has been incarcerated since that time, currently at a facility in Raleigh
following a foiled plot to escape from the Chowan County Jail in Edenton.
