Cynthia Glover
MARGARETTSVILLE n Cynthia Louise “Cindy” Glover, 52, a native of Halifax County, died September 3, 2006 at her home.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Margarettsville Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Glover and the Rev. Jimmy Cox. Burial will be in the Glover family cemetery. Massey Funeral Home, Jackson, is in charge.
She was a member of Margarettsville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Mildred Jenkins Glover; and her brother, Richard O. “Dickie” Glover Jr. of Wilson.
Louise Spoolman
COLERAIN n Louise Hoggard Spoolman, 81, a native of Bertie County, died September 3, 2006. She was the widow of Henry Allen Spoolman.
A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Elm Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Preston Jernigan. Burial was in Edgewood Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, was in charge. Memorial gifts may be made to the Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spoolman was a retired district supervisor for Wise Fashions. She was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Jernigan and Marlene Myers, both of Raleigh; two sons, Ervin Lassiter of Colerain and Sidney Lassiter of Mechanicsville, Va.; one sister, Hattie Mae Mizelle of Colerain; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
William Davis
ROANOKE RAPIDS n William Eugene Davis, 69, died August 31, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.
A funeral was conducted Tuesday in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids.
David L. Askew
WINDSOR n David LaVance “Dooney” “Cutter D” Askew, 22, a native of Chowan County, died September 3, 2006.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Peterson Chapel Baptist Church, Merry Hill, by the Rev. Percell Whitaker. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Windsor. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
Askew was employed with the grading department at Perdue Inc., Lewiston. He was a member of Peterson Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father, David Earl Holley and his stepmother, Betty Holley, of Roxobel; brothers, Roshon Holley of Roxobel and Raquon Askew of Merry Hill; sisters, Shaquna Askew of Windsor and Romea Askew of Merry Hill; his grandparents, Willie and Elsie Moore and Armeta Askew, all of Merry Hill; and his stepgrandmother, Florence Chavis of Aulander.

WELDON n Susan Kaye Deloatch Blacknell, 43, died September 5, 2006 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

ROCKY MOUNT n Maggie Gay, 97, died September 4, 2006 at Tarboro Nursing Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Thursday at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in North Eastern Cemetery, Rocky Mount. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge.
Lillian Felton
ROCKY MOUNT n Lillie Perry Felton, 85, died September 4, 2006 at Nash Grove Manor.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Burial will be in Stoney Creek Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge.

BATTLEBORO n Henry Edward “Noot-Noot” Hunter, 42, died September 4, 2006 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

Christine L. Anderson
NORFOLK, Va. – Christine Lee Anderson, a native of Windsor, died September 3, 2006, at her residence.
She was a faithful member of First Calvary Baptist Church and was active in many phases of church life including the Gospel Choir, the Mary D. Long Missionary Society, a Sunday school teacher and as a volunteer with the Kitchen Ministry.
Survivors include her sisters, Pauline L. Clark, her twin, Eleanor L. Sadler, Evelyn L. Holloway, Shirley L. Nelson and Jacquelyn P. Lee; and one brother, G. Curtis Lee Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in the chapel of Riddick Funeral Service with the Rev. C.V. Russell Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence.
Mary C. Hill
SUFFOLK, Va. – Mary Frances Chniel Hill, 59, a native of Virginia, died September 5, 2006.
Mrs. Hill had worked at J.C. Penney as a department supervisor.
Survivors include her children, Valerie M. Hill-Kyles of Suffolk and Gary M. Hill of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Diane M. Gaylor of Gatesville and Rita C. McGinnis of Virginia Beach; and five grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery by Mr. Edward Hill. Harrell and Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge.
Pecolia Downing
HARRELLSVILLE – Pecolia Downing, 93, a native of Hertford County, died
September 3, 2006 at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.
She was a child care provider.
Survivors include one son, John Douglas Downing of Chesapeake, Va.;
one daughter, Martha Vann of Harrellsville;
seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six
great-great grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Harrellville Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. James Sharpe.

Thomas Knight
GATES – Thomas Levy Knight, 72, a native of Gates, died September 3, 2006 at Bertie Memorial Hospital, Windsor. He was born on July 26, 1934 to the late Martin and Erma Riddick Knight in Gates, NC.
Knight was a retired truck driver for GB Lawrence Inc.
Survivors include
his wife, Louise Knight of Gates;
four sons, Barian Knight of Gates, Thomas Knight, Jr. of Eure, Bruce “Jack” Knight of Upper Marlboro, MD and Jimmy Parker of Suffolk, Va.;
one brother, Emmitt Knight of Gatesville; one sister, Shirley Powell of Waterbury, CT.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. James K. Brown.
