Doris M. Tyler
AULANDER n Doris Moore Tyler, 68, a native of Bertie County, died January 12, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Eveninglight Church of God in Christ Jesus, Windsor, by Overseer Luther Cherry. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander.
Mrs. Tyler was a member of Eveninglight Church of God in Christ Jesus, Windsor and a senior choir member and usher.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Outlaw of Aulander; one brother, Horace Moore of Colerain; sisters, Mattie Winborne of Ahoskie and Mary Moore of Harrellsville; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Joseph B. Williford
WINDSOR n Joseph Braxton Williford, 57, a native of Bertie County, died January 13, 2006 at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Edgewood Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Lee. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home is in charge. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Williford was a deacon and member of Edgewood Baptist Church, former member of the Lawrence Academy Board and former basketball, softball and golf coach at Lawrence Academy.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Pierce Williford of Windsor; one daughter, Cecilia Williford of Raleigh; one son, J. Braxton Williford Jr. of Holly Springs; and one sister, Janet W. Holland of Merry Hill.
Georgia B. Hall
AHOSKIE n Ms. Georgia Bell Hall, died Friday, January 12, 2007 at her residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church by the Rev. William Ashe. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, Ahoskie. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Ms. Hall was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Hall of Chesapeake, Va., and Larry Albert Hall of Ahoskie, NC; one daughter, Barbara Ann Ward of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Lillian Stokley-Hall of Chesapeake, Va.; one son-in-law, Benjamin Ward of Virginia Beach, Va.; one special friend, Margaret Garner of Ahoskie, NC; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Geneva T. Hardy
COLERAIN n Geneva T. Hardy, died January 12, 2007 at Brian Center of Windsor.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Colerain, by the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Mrs. Hardy was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Herman Hardy of Portsmouth, Va., and Moses Hardy of Topeka, KS; four sisters, Etta Marie Morris of Colerain, Mary Outlaw and Otelia James, both of Chesapeake and Audress Watford of Norfolk; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Loraine Howell
GARYSBURG n Loraine Carpenter Howell, 80, died January 13, 2007 at Life Care Hospital, Rocky Mount. She was the widow of her first husband, James E. Harris.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Franklin Stansbury and the Rev. Chad Manion. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. HERTFORD – Hazel Davis Daughtrey, 82, died January 14, 2007.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Warwick Baptist Church Cemetery, Hobbsville. Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services of Hertford is in charge.
Willie S. Taylor
SUNBURY – Willie Evelyn &uot;Baby&uot; Small Taylor, 85, a native of Gates County, died January 14, 2007, in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk. She was the widow of Earl Chypus Taylor.
Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Taylor Lilley of Corapeake; two sons, Robert Earl Taylor of The Valleys, Fla., and Roland Taylor of King William, Va.; two sisters, Louise Dodson of Hampton, Va., and Marie Staton of Smithfield, Va.; nine grandchildren; and
and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, by the Rev. Cameron Currin. Burial will be in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery, Sunbury. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
Clayton P. Connell
BOYKINS n Clayton Purdy Connell, 79, passed away January 13, 2007 at Guardian Care in Ahoskie, NC. A native of Brunswick County, he was the son of the late Algie L. and Nora Taylor Connell. A Navy veteran of WW II, Clayton was a retired master electrician from Narricott Industries, a member of American Legion Post 276, and a former member of Boykins Fire and Rescue Squad. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Shirley Beatty Connell; his daughter, Belinda C. Harrell and husband, Jerry, of Ahoskie; a sister, Lacy C. Doughtie and husband, Dodson, of Murfreesboro; three grandsons, Jacob, Joseph, and Jarrett Harrell adopted children, Tim, Vicky and Stone Baker, Jimmy, Jeannie, and Hank Fuller and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Connell was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Tinaro.
A graveside service, with military honors, was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn and the Rev. Tommy Kiker officiating. The family received friends at the residence, 30010 Meherrin Road, and suggest memorials be made to the Family Ministries Committee of the Boykins Baptist Church, 32057 Main Street, Boykins, VA 23827, or the Richard Bass Memorial (Chimes) of the Boykins United Methodist Church, 32167 Main Street, Boykins, VA. 23827. Wright Funeral Home assisted the family.
