LeRoy Rawls Jr.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – LeRoy Rawls Jr., 61, a native of Gates, died September 25, 2007, in Chesapeake.
the husband of Esther J. Rawls. A Navy veteran, he was employed as a tankerman with Allied Terminals for more than 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Esther J. Rawls; a daughter, Monica Rawls; two sisters, Elaine and Janice; a brother, Jerry; two stepchildren, Charles and Colleen; a granddaughter; and a step-granddaughter.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate his life Friday at the 33rd Precinct, 2139 Chesapeake Drive, South Norfolk. Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, was in charge.
Loretta Barnak Mallory
SPRING HILL, Fla. – Loretta Barnak Mallory, 49, a native of Portsmouth, Va., died September 24, 2007, in Port Richey, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar H. Mallory; a daughter, Tanya Stanley; a son, Derek Stanley, all of Spring Hill; two sisters, Patricia Hooker of Como and Stacey Sheetz of Kill Devil Hills; and a brother, Christopher Barnak of Suffolk.
A graveside service was conducted Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Gene Primm. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, was in charge.
Bessie L. Riddick
GATESVILLE n Bessie Lamb Riddick, 69, died September 24, 2007 at Down East Nursing Home, Gatesville. She was the widow of the Rev. Willie E. Riddick.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church, Corapeake, by Dr. Claude Odom. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stallings Funeral Chapel, Gatesville, is in charge.
Survivors include four daughters, Deloris A. Branch and Valrie S. Riddick, both of Sunbury, Benita M. Johnson and Clara D. Riddick, both of Gatesville; one son, William C. Riddick Sr. of Gatesville; one sister, Kathrine Riddick of Brooklyn, NY; six grandchildren; and two grandchildren.
Martha S. Eley
AHOSKIE n Martha Shamblee Eley, died September 26, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Roy Sharpe. Burial will be in the Shamblee family cemetery, Ahoskie. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

SUNBURY -David Wayne Jarrett, 62, died September 25, 2007.
A memorial service will be conducted at p.m. Saturday at in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville.
Catherine T. Daughtrey
FRANKLIN, Va. – Catherine Tillery &uot;Kitty&uot; Daughtrey, 83, a native of Kelford, died September 26, 2770. She was the widow of Thomas Edwin Daughtrey Sr.
Mrs. Daughtrey was a member of Sedley Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies’ Bible Class and a former member of the Lessie Tillery Circle and Adult Choir for many years. She was employed in 1948 by Hunter Scott of Scott Construction Company as a bookkeeper where she worked for more than 20 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Daughtrey Simmons of Courtland; her son, Thomas E. Daughtrey Jr. of Chesapeake; two sisters, Elleise T. Hancock of Sedley and Lessie T. Edwards of Franklin; one brother, Thomas Cecil Tillery of Sedley; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sedley Baptist Church by the Rev. Armand Jalbert. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge. JERSEY CITY, NJ n George “Buck” Holley, 55, a native of Hertford County, died September 23, 2007.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mill Branch Baptist Church, Aulander, by Bishop Robert L. Bunch. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
Holley was retired from Better Methods. He was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, and the senior choir.
Survivors include his wife, Teressa Leary Holley of Jersey City; daughters, Latasha and Squeaky Holley, both of Middleton, Conn., and Latiqua Holley of Jersey City; brothers, William, James and Jerry Holley, all of Jersey City, Ray and Harold Holley, both of Edenton and Carnell Holley of Colerain; sisters, Audrey Anderson and Barbara Wynn, both of Jersey City, Cora Brown and Etta Mae Cofield, both of Newport News, Va., and Mable Armistead of Edenton; and seven grandchildren.
