Julia A. Willey
SUFFOLK, Va. – Julia Ann Willey, 55, a native of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died September 29, 2007.
Mrs. Willey was a bookkeeper for Farm Fresh in Smithfield, Va.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Arthur Willey of Suffolk; mother and father, Elizabeth Lackey Boyers and Chester Herschel Boyers II of Windsor, Va.; daughters, Erin B. Nowell of Windsor and Becky R. Buppert of Conway; son, Joseph P. Boyers of Suffolk; sister, Susan Stahl of Arizona; and brothers, Chester H. Boyers III of Germany, Tommy J. Boyers of Kannapolis, Raymond A. Boyers of Windsor and Ronald B. Boyers of Smithfield, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Parr Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank A. Seal. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Suffolk Chapter, 604 Constance Woods Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434. Condolences may be registered at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
Alice D. Williams
GATES – Alice Dale Williams, 83, formerly of Boonetown Road and more recently of the Ahoskie House, died September 28, 2007, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Williams was born in Chowan County. She was the widow of Harrison Williams.
Mrs. Williams had retired from the sheet finishing department at Union Camp Corp. and was a member of Middle Swamp Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Winston E. Williams of Eure and G.T. Williams of Gates; two sisters, Gladys Williams of Gainesville, Fla., and Margaret Davis of Edenton; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral was conducted Sunday in Middle Swamp Baptist Church by Pastor Burt Pearce and the Rev. Todd Higginson. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to University Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, NC 27910 or to one’s favorite charity.
Ollie W. White
CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Ollie W. White, 77, a native of Bertie County, died September 27, 2007.
White retired from the City of Norfolk as a maintenance foreman. He was a member of Blessed Hope Chapel and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie White; his son, Johnny Bullock Carolyn of Chesapeake; three sisters, Eunice Castelow, Annie May Bazemore, both of Cofield, and Helen Fuller of Ahoskie; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Monday in Rosewood Memorial Park with the Rev. John Smith.Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is in charge. Martha Stanley
MURFREESBORO n Martha Earl Vaughan Stanley, 96, a native of Northampton County, died September 28,2 007 at her residence.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Woodland, by the Rev. J.T. Grant. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Audrey S. Sellers of Murfreesboro; one brother, George Vaughan of Murfreesboro; one sister, Estelle Macadoo of New York, NY; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Evora L. Murphy
Evora L. Murphy (75) of Como, NC departed this life on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville, NC.
She was born on September 14, 1932 to the late Mack Lewis, Sr. and Frances Branche in Southampton County, VA.
She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Woodland, NC.
She was a homemaker.
She leaves to cherish her memories:
(1) son, Garfield Murphy, Jr. and (1) daughter, Shirley M. Worthington both of Como, NC;
(1) brother, Mack Lewis, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC;
(2) sisters, Barbara Newborns of Hebron, MD, Arletha White of New Church, VA;
(4) grandchildren, Tyrone Worthington, Corry Joyner, Latisha M. Hargrove and Corey Smith; (1) great-grandchild, Tyrika L. Worthington;
a host of other
relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 @ 2 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses by Brother Roy Futrell.
Burial will be held at Carver Park Cemetery, Murfreesboro. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc. n Murfreesboro is handling services.

Charles E. Brown
RICH SQUARE – Mr. Charles Edward Brown, age 83 of 220 East Jackson Street, Rich Square died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC.
He was born in Northampton County, the son of the late James Mickel Brown and Anna Mary Outland Brown.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was the long time operator of J.M. Brown and Son, Inc., a commercial basket manufacturing company, founded by his father James M. Brown. He was a birth right member of the Friends Meeting in Woodland, NC.
Charles was a World War II veteran having served with the Army Transport Division.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Brown Brown of the home, two daughters; Lynn Brown McCoy and her husband the Honorable H. Paul McCoy, Jr. of Scotland Neck, NC and Jayne Brown Everrett and her husband Fate Baker, Jr. “Tad” of Palmyra, NC.
Five grandchildren; Charles Michael McCoy and his wife Angie, Sue Anne Fipps and her husband Ed, Benjamin Bryan Everrett, III and his wife Deborah, Paul Carson McCoy and his fianc\u00E9 Laura Anderson and Lynn Everrett Hale and her husband Lee, six great grandchildren; Austin and Garrett McCoy, Kennedy and Emerson Fipps, Ford and Eliza Everrett.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 11 A.M. at the Rich Square United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Cope officiating.
The burial will follow at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square, NC.
The family will receive friends at the home of Charles and Sue Brown, 220 East Jackson Street, Rich Square on Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30 P.M.

Norfolk, VA

Doris E. (Raynor) Wiggins, 78, departed this life at the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on September 27, 2007.
She was the daughter of Will and Lettie Raynor of Powellsville, NC.
Raised and educated at her parent’s home, she graduated from C. G. White High School, and was a member of First Baptist Church.
She lived in Norfolk, VA for many years.
Ms Wiggins is survived by two sisters, Ms Allene (Elephas) James of Milton, MA, Dr. Carrie B. Saunders of Cape Cod, MA, two sisters-in-law, Ms Bertha (Reginald) Pittman and Ms Mamie Raynor of Powellsville, NC, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a dear friend, Ms Alice Taylor. Services are private.

RICH SQUARE n Spencer Jacobs, 60, died September 25, 2007.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Hayes. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lionel Whidbee Funeral Home, Rich Square.
