GARYSBURG – Two Northampton County men are each facing a felony drug charge after being arrested here.
According to Northampton County Sheriff’s Sergeant Lynette Clements, Demetrick L. Clark, 29, of 402 Collier St. in Garysburg and Donald R. Carter, 42, of 3324 Hwy 301 North in Pleasant Hill were taken into custody on December 22.
Clements said the arrests stem from a call in reference to two suspicious vehicles that were blocking a hunting path off Jack Swamp Road outside of Garysburg.
According to the report Clements filed, Northampton County Deputy Stevens responded to the scene and observed the two suspects getting into a white Buick. Stevens followed the men to Garysburg and then back to the hunting path on Jack Swamp Road.
Upon calling for assistance, Stevens was joined by Northampton County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Cory Jackson, Deputy Jason Boone and Garysburg Police Chief Raymond Vaughan.
The officers then directed the two suspects to get out of the vehicle.
While speaking with Clark and Carter, Jackson noticed a sales paper laying on the ground between the two men; inside there was crack cocaine.
Clark and Carter were then taken into custody.
Both men were charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were placed in the Northampton County Jail on a $7,500 secured bond each.
Their first court appearance was on Thursday.
