Northeast boys top Halifax

LASKER – Jeremy Parker scored a game high 15 points to lead Northeast Academy over Halifax Academy in the final game of the Greater Lasker Shootout.
Northeast led by as many as 14 points, but the Vikings almost pulled off the win, closing within three before Parker scored two foul shots to secure a 48-43 win for the Eagles.
Baskets from John Pope and Josh Jenkins gave the Eagles a 4-0 lead, but a trey from Gunner Dahlke brought the Vikings within one.
Northeast scored seven straight points, extending their lead to eight.
Kyle Salmon added two buckets for the Vikings while Northeast got baskets from Jenkins and Brandon Futrell to keep the Eagles out front, 15-7.
The teams traded baskets to start the second quarter until Dahlke scored five unanswered points to pull Halifax within three (21-18).
Parker took the ball coast-to-coast for two and added a free throw while the Vikings got a basket from Justin Lambert to stay within four (24-20) at the half.
Each team scored two buckets to start the third.
Futrell scored back-to-back baskets and Parker added a deuce before a Salmon bucket ended the run.
Jenkins scored the next five points, extending the Eagles lead to 13 (39-26).
Halifax scored the final five points of the quarter to pull within eight.
A Jenkins basket and pair of Parker foul shots sandwiched a Vernon Bradley trey.
Buckets by Dahlke and Grey Garvey cut the Eagles lead to five (43-38).
Justin Lambert scored between a Futrell free throw and Parker basket. Salmon hit for two and Philip Myers made a foul shot to pull Halifax within three before Parker’s shots from the charity stripe sealed the Northeast win.
