Two charged in rape case

JACKSON – A Virginia man has been charged with three counts of first degree rape after he allegedly sexually assaulted two children.
Northampton County Sheriff Wardie Vincent reported the recent arrest of Timothy Mason, 31, of 1025 Dry Bread Road in Emporia, Va.
Mason was charged with indecent liberties with a child and three counts of first degree rape.
He was taken to the Northampton County Jail and placed on a $50,000 bond.
Vincent said the charges stem from a report to his office that Mason had improper contact with two children he was acquainted with. The Sheriff did not reveal the ages of the two victims nor did he say if the victims were related.
Wanda Squire, 33, of 109 Scott Road in Garysburg was also taken into custody. She was charged with obstruction of justice.
Vincent said Squire attempted to aide Mason allegedly moved Mason around in attempt to keep the suspect from police and deputies.
Vincent said Squire was about to move the suspect to Virginia when his deputies took Mason into custody.
Squire was taken to the Northampton County Jail and placed on a $2,000 bond.
