Johnnie Mae Ashley
GATESVILLE – Johnnie Mae Worrell Ashley, 77, a native of Gates County, died August 7, 2008, in Guardian Care of Ahoskie. She was the widow of George Norman Ashley.
Mrs. Ashley was a homemaker. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Ashley Bazemore of Sunbury; four sons, Steven Andrew Ashley of Gates, Mark Allen Ashley of Gatesville Donald Keith Ashley of Gatesville and Bruce Kelly Ashley of Sunbury; a sister, Edna Bailey of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Joe Cockrell. Burial will be in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, and other times at the home of her daughter, 31 NC 32 South, Sunbury.
Johnny L. Brown
WOODLAND n Johnny Lynn Brown, 61, died August 6, 2008 at his home. He was the widower of Thelma Brown.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland. Massey Funeral Home, Jackson, is in charge.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Brown Vann of Rich Square; a stepdaughter, Donna Lineburger of Tarboro; a stepson, Charles Lineburger of Ahoskie; one grandson; and one stepgrandson.
Dy’Nasia A. Hill
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. n Dy’Nasia Aaliyah Hill, died August 5, 2008 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rich Square, by the Rev. Robert Mallory. Burial will be in the Cladie H.R. Ambrose Memorial Gardens, St. John. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
Survivors include her mother, Danequa Fennell Hill; her father, Rayshawn Hill, both of Newport News; grandparents, Phyllis Fennell of Ahoskie, Melvin Lee Sr. of Winston-Salem, Emily Hill and Charles Everette, all of Murfreesboro; great-grandparents, Mary L. Sharpe of Winton, Daisy Moorison of St. John and Betty Eley of Murfreesboro; and her godmother, Natashia Freeman.
Herbert Cooper
WINDSOR — Herbert Cooper, 71, died August 7, 2008 at Bertie Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 a.m. Tuesday in Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel, Windsor. Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be private.
