Charlie Godwin

Charlie Plaze Godwin, 87, of the 200 block of Willoughby Road, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Godwin was born in Hertford County, a son of the late Albert Jackson Godwin Jr. and Addie Lane Dilday Godwin. He was a longtime member of Brantley’s Grove Baptist Church and a farmer.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Tommy Charles Godwin and wife, Charlene, of Ahoskie; his grandchildren, Rose Long, Tommie White and husband, Charles, Lee Godwin, Matthew Castelow and wife, Jessica, and Sarah Castelow and friend, Jeremy. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Zachary Godwin, Daniel Long, Adam Godwin and Charlie White; and a sister, Nettie Mae Byrum of Brian Center in Windsor.
Beside his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Willie B. Godwin, and a daughter, Nelda G. Castelow.
A celebration service of Mr. Godwin’s life was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008, at Garrett Funeral Home with the Rev. J. N. Baggett and Rev. Gilbert Crawford officiating. Burial followed in Highland Memorial Gardens.
