Evelyn Purdence Peele Edwards, 81, formerly of Lewiston-Woodville, died peacefully at the home Haven in Highland Creek, Charlotte, on Sunday, March 1.
A native of Lewiston, she attended Meredith College and graduated from East Carolina Teachers College and then served as a teacher for many years.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy (Dot) Peele of Blue Bell, PA; her three children, Richard Edwards of Raleigh, Bob Edwards of Davidson and Belinda Edwards Sellers of Pittsboro; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 at Hoggard Memorial Cemetery, Lewiston-Woodville, led by Reverend Bill Grisham of First Baptist Church, Rocky Mount. Following the service, family and friends will gather in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church, Lewiston.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to your charity of choice.
