Mary Jane Lewis James, 89, of Ahoskie died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at her home. A native of Hertford County, she was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. She was retired from Roanoke Chowan Hospital as a nursing assistant in the X-Ray Department.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur James of Ahoskie; four children, Phyllis Dianne James of Ahoskie, Arthur Douglas James of Fredricksburg, VA, Benjamin Lewis James of Ahoskie and Mary (Kay) James of Charlotte; a brother, Francisco Mercado of Ayden; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23 at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church.
