Bruce Justin Jernigan, 8, of Exter Road, Colerain, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Born in Hertford County, he was a rising fourth grader at Windsor Elementary School. He participated in The Special Olympics and was a member of Potter House Baptist Fellowship.
Survivors include his mother, Patti Jernigan of Colerain; his father, Jeffery Miller of Ahoskie; his maternal grandparents, Justin and Trica Pierce Keet of Colerain; his paternal grandparents, Danny and Vivian Miller of Aulander; maternal great-grandmother, Elsie Pierce of Windsor; paternal great-grandmother, Jane Miller of Columbia; and godmother, Heather Dozier of Windsor.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12 at Potter House Baptist Fellowship with the Rev. Randy Miller and the Rev. Paul Ange officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for 7- 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at Walker Funeral Home in Windsor.
