Most of you probably know by now that the Roanoke-Chowan News Herald has begun preparation of a pictorial history book that will be available before Christmas, and we are seeking photographs from area residents for consideration for inclusion on the book.

We’ve already received several and are impressed with them.

We’d like to see yours, too. We’re interested of photographs of people, places and events from the earliest days right through the 1990s.

We have blank photo information forms at the News Herald office in Ahoskie and we ask that you fill out one of those for each picture you submit.

All photos will be returned to their owners unharmed. We hope we will be able to use them all, but space may limit us.

Only a limited number of the history books will be produced. To be sure those who want them are sure to get them, we are accepting pre-publication orders now, and we’re offering a $10 discount on pre-publication orders.

Ordered now, one of the books is $39.95 plus $3.05 tax.

(We will have a few extra printed and those will be available at $49.95 plus $3.87 tax until they’re gone.)

We also will ship the books for you if you wish. There is a $9.95 charge for that service.
