Carroll Pope

Carroll Pope, 86, of Rich Square died Monday, November 2, 2009 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.
A native of Raleigh, he was self employed as a brick mason.
Survivors include five sons, J.E. Pope, Paul Pope, Michael Pope and C.R. Pope, all of Rich Square, and David Pope of Durham; eight daughters, Joan Gentry, Yvonne Newman and Frieda Barner, all of Hampton, VA, Juanita Isaac of High Point, Kay Lea of Long Beach, Calif., Carole Xulu of Jacksonville, Fla., Debra Dowdy of Woodbridge, VA and Bridgette Robinson of Albany, NY; a sister, Gloria Jenkins of Washington, D.C.; 38 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Willow Oak AME Church with the Rev. James R. Baker officiating. Burial will take place at the Pope Family Cemetery.
A wake will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 at Willow Oak AME Church.
