James Hoggard

James Elisha “Little Bud” Hoggard, 82, of 1235 Bull Hill Road, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at his home.
He was born in Bertie County on October 7, 1927 to the late William David and Millie Frances White Hoggard and was predeceased by his wife, Mildred H. Hoggard, two brothers and four sisters.
“Little Bud” was a member of Ross Baptist Church and the owner of Hoggard’s Grocery. He was formerly employed by the NC Forest Service as a smoke chaser and also at Lea Lumber & Plywood.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Ross Baptist Church at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Brian Medlin and the Rev. Roger Kiker. Burial will follow in Ross Baptist Cemetery.
Survivors include sons, Michael K. Hoggard and wife, Joanne, and Phil Hoggard, all of Windsor; daughters, Debbie H. Lassiter and husband, Wayne, of Ahoskie and Teresa Hoggard of Windsor; sister, Emaline H. Baker of Windsor; brother, Leon Hoggard of Hampton, Va.; grandchildren, Carrie Stroud of Morehead City and Corey Hoggard of Windsor; and great-grandchildren, Damon Hoggard, Camden and Avery Stroud.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home and at other times from the home.
