AHOSKIE – Registration is now open for the second annual Mother’s Day 5K Walk/Run hosted by the Ahoskie Jaycees.

The event benefits Hertford County Special Olympics.

Race/walk time is 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8. Participants are asked to check-in between 7:45 and 8:15 a.m. at the starting line (corner of Main and Mitchell Street in front of the Ahoskie Town Hall).

The early registration fee (before May 5) is $20. That fee increases to $25 after May 5.

The event (5 kilometers or 3.1 miles) will be on the streets of Ahoskie. There will checkpoints along the route with two water stations and first aid.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
