GREENS CROSS – An early-morning accident near here Thursday morning left one person cited.

According to a report filed by North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper C.W. Godwin, a 2005 Kenworth 18-wheeler was traveling on Old U.S. 17, north of Windsor, near the intersection of U.S. 17.

The driver ran off the road and tried to correct, but the truck overturned on the shoulder of the road and into the ditch.

The truck, which was being operated by Sauda Williams, 34, of Charlotte, was owned by Williams, but leased to S&A Trucking of Alabama.

Williams was charged with exceeding a safe speed.

He was not seriously injured in the accident
