Be part of the ‘good fight’

Times remain difficult in the Roanoke-Chowan region and throughout North Carolina and the United States.

While many are still looking for employment and others are struggling to make ends meet, there are still many out there who are doing the best they can to help in these times of trouble.

There are churches, civic organizations and others who are still doing their best to provide help to the needy. There are food pantries, clothing closets and a variety of others who offer help to those who need it.

In a time when we are all struggling, it is commendable for the churches and civic organizations to continue their work. The services they provide are not only good, they are needed.

We want to take time to say ‘thank you’ to those who are continuing to work hard to provide for those who are less fortunate. Thank you for your time, effort, energy and financial aid.

We also implore those who can to help those who are providing these services. When you have the opportunity to give, do so, whether it’s through a donation, purchasing a raffle ticket or giving of your own time.

It is times like this, when many are struggling, that we remember the beauty of being southern friends and neighbors – we take care of our own.
