Mrs. Jessie Storey Bryant, age 86, formerly of Murfreesboro, NC, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at her son’s home in Hillsborough, NC.
Mrs. Bryant was born January 7, 1924 in Hertford County, NC, the daughter of the late Rufus Storey and Julia Benthall Storey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Bryant. Her grandfather invented the Benthall Peanut Picker.
She was a retired receptionist at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander, NC.
In 2003, Mrs. Bryant moved to Hillborough, NC to live with her son and daughter-in-law after Hurricane Isabel.
She attended Cane Creek Baptist Church with her family. She was a great blessing to her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Dennis Bryant and his wife, Jenny, of Hillsborough, NC and Steven Everette Bryant and his wife, Kay, of Pittsboro, NC; her grandchildren, Richard Patrick Bryant and his wife, Amy, Kay Bryant, Robin Kirby and her husband, Todd, Steve Bryant and his wife, Jennifer, Angela Nicole Bryant, Connor Scott and Amy Bryant; and her great grandchildren, Amelia Gracean, Macey Lauryn, Eliza Rose Bryant and Hannah Jean Kirby.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Cane Creek Baptist Church in Hillsborough, NC. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro, NC. Rev. Jack Edge and Dr. Lee Canipe will officiate.
