Sheriff implements R U OK system

WINTON – The Hertford County Sheriff’s Office is once again implementing the R U OK? system.
Sheriff Juan Vaughan has worked diligently to restart this system for the citizens of Hertford County and is happy to report that the system is now functioning.
Each day at a pre-arranged time, RUOK automatically makes these computerized monitoring calls.
“Contacting an elderly person or homebound individual on a daily basis helps to reassure their well being and give them a feeling of security,” Sheriff Vaughan said about the program.
The Are You OK? telephone reassurance system eases the concern of friends and family who may find it difficult to maintain consistent, reliable contact. An 85-year-old woman wants the independence of living alone in her home along with the security of being monitored. The R U OK? system brings a sense of comfort into every subscriber’s home.
Each day at a pre-arranged time, RUOK automatically makes these computerized monitoring calls inexpensively and without interruption to normal community services.
