Ridgecroft defeats Gates County

GATESVILLE – Ridgecroft School rolled to its fifth tennis victory of the season Tuesday.
The Lady Rams knocked off Gates County High School 8-1 by sweeping the six singles’ matchups and winning two of three on the doubles side.
Ridgecroft’s afternoon started well with the two top seeds capturing perfect victories.
Top-seeded Caroline Bowman defeated Alyson Owens 8-0 while second seed Alex Riddick secured the same 8-0 victory over Renae Parsain.
Fourth-seeded Miller Bryant also had a spotless victory for the Lady Rams as she won her matchup with Sarah Miller 8-0.
Third-seeded Katie Futrell was nearly perfect for the Lady Rams as she won her matchup with Norah Tyler 8-1.
Roxie Daniels was the next victor for Ridgecroft as she won the battle with fellow five-seed Arnesha Eason by an 8-4 count.
Sixth-seeded McKenzie Quattlebaum secured the singles’ sweep when she topped Reshenah Walton 8-2.
In doubles action, Parsain and Owens got Gates County’s lone win with an 8-5 win over Bowman and Riddick.
Futrell and Bryant then secured the battle of second-seeded teams with an 8-2 win over Tyler and Miller.
Daniels and Quattlebaum finished the day with an 8-0 win over Eason and Abby Vann in the final doubles contest.
Ridgecroft improved to 5-1 with the win while Gates County dropped to 0-4.
