Falcons fall to First Flight

WINDSOR – Bertie High school suffered another league setback here Friday.
The Falcons fell to visiting First Flight High School by a final of 19-4, dropping them to 0-7 in the Northeastern Coastal Conference.
The Nighthawks opened the game with four runs in the top of the first frame, but Bertie bounced right back to tie the game in the home half of the same inning.
The game remained tied until the top of the third when First Flight added two runs. They did the same in the fourth and then put across three marks in the fifth before opening the game up with eight in the seventh.
Adam Cowand paced the Falcons with a 1-for-3 performance at the plate that included a double and a walk. Joseph Eure, Ryan Chamblee and Javier Pogella all added 1-for-3 performances at the plate.
The Falcons used five pitchers in the contest.
Bertie dropped to 1-13 overall heading into tonight’s contest at Northeastern High School.
