Viola Jenette Claire Perry

POWELLSVILLE—Miss Viola Jenette Claire Perry, 87, died peacefully on May 2, 2011 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Viola was born in Powellsville, North Carolina on July 12, 1923, the daughter of Edgar Wesley Perry and Johnnie Phelps Perry, and resided at her home at 210 W. Main Street in Powellsville until her death.
Viola is survived by several cousins, many cherished friends, including her pet cat and dog.
Viola served as organist/pianist for several churches in the area and taught piano students in her home for many years. She was a member of Connaritsa Baptist Church.
A graveside memorial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May, 10, 2011 at the family mausoleum at Ahoskie Cemetery in Ahoskie. In lieu of flowers, Viola requested that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or a local charity of your choice.
Viola was grateful for all the care and concern shown to her by neighbors, friends and local churches during numerous illnesses during the last several years.
