Eagles fall to TCCS

LASKER – Northeast Academy suffered a tough straight-set loss here last week.
The Lady Eagles fell to Terra Ceia Christian School 25-21, 26-24 and 25-21 in a Tarheel Independent Conference volleyball contest.
Lindsey Bryant had an excellent outing despite the loss. She scored on eight kills, had two aces and added an assist, a tip and a block.
Dayna Barnes had five assists during the afternoon to go along with two tips, a block and a kill. Arielle Ricks added nine assists and one kill to the stat sheet.
Emma Hayner had one ace and one dig while Taylor Kiney had one dig and one kill Kelsey Lassiter added an ace.
“Terra Ceia made fewer mistakes,” Northeast skipper Cap Pfeiffer said. “As the scores indicate, it was a hard-fought match.”
Northeast dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the Tar-Roanoke Conference.
In junior varsity action, Northeast returned the favor, beating the Knights in straight sets. The Lady Eagles won by dual counts of 25-11.
Alexis Soper paced Northeast with four aces, three assists and a tip during the afternoon while Holly Byrum provided nine straight serves at one point and had three assists and a kill.
Haley Bolton had three aces and one assist while rolling off eight straight service points for the Eagles. Megan Futrell added two aces and a kill while McKayla Davis had one ace and a kill.
“We’re still working on the fundamentals and it is paying off,” Pfeiffer said. “The team has been consistent all year. They play together and I’m very proud of them.”
The win boosted the Lady Eagles to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the league.
