Eagles sweep outings

LASKER – Northeast Academy secured a pair of volleyball victories recently.
The Lady Eagles swept a home-and-home series with the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf to improve to 3-10 for the 2011 campaign.
In the first matchup between the two schools, Northeast won 25-12, 25-12, 24-26, 25-21.
In that outing, Kelsey Lassiter had nine straight service points in game one. She recorded four aces during the contest, one kill and one assist.
In the second game of the match, Chelsea Rose rolled off six straight points. She had five aces and one assist during the contest.
Lindsey Bryant helped pace the Lady Eagles to victory as she had eight aces and 12 kills during the match. Dayna Barnes added eight assists, four aces, three tips and a kill.
Arielle Ricks had four assists and three aces during the match while Holly Byrum contributed a dig, a kill and an assist. Brittany Parker added a kill and an assist.
“It feels good to get a win,” veteran Northeast skipper Cap Pfeiffer said. “We have had some very close games and to get a win sure feels good.”
Days later, the Eagles swept a straight-set match with the same school, winning 25-19, 27-25 and 27-25.
Bryant had nine kills during the match while Ricks had three assists, two assists and a tip. Rose added two aces and Taylor King had two assists and an ace. Barnes added a kill and Lassiter a dig.
Byrum had three assists and a dig in the matchup.
“We had great comebacks in the last two games,” Pfeiffer said. “We were down 24-21, but the girls did not quit. They fought hard to win.”
