RMP stops Northampton-East

CREEKSVILLE- Using a 13-2 first quarter, the Lady Jaguars of Rocky Mount Prep never trailed as they defeated the Lady Rams of Northampton County-East here Friday night by a 53-28 score.
The game started slowly enough as neither team hit a basket until the Lady Jaguars’ K. Bryant hit one at the 5:04 mark.
Four Lady Jaguars scored baskets in the first quarter lead by Bryant’s three field goals and one free throw.
The Lady Rams finally got on the board with a pair of free throws by Jomecka Deloatch with 23 seconds left in the period.
The Lady Rams got their first basket of the game to start the second quarter as Dajenique Daye hit a three pointer at the 7:41 mark. The Lady Jaguars then went on an 8-0 run to take a 21-5 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the half.
The Lady Rams’ Alexus Shoulders stopped the run with a basket which was followed quickly by a M. Haywood basket. The Lady Rams closed out the scoring with a pair of free throws by Deloatch and a basket by Daye.
The half ended with the Lady Jaguars holding 23-11 lead.
The third quarter saw Rocky Mount Prep add to their lead.
F. Bunch scored eight of her 14 points in this quarter leading the Lady Jaguars to a 41-17 lead as the third quarter came to a close.
The fourth quarter saw the teams exchanging baskets.
The Lady Rams could not muster a run that would cut into the Lady Jaguars lead as the Lady Jaguars left the floor with the 53-28 victory.
Rocky Mount Prep was led in scoring by 14 points each from Bunch and J. Sharper and 13 points from K. Bryant.
The Lady Rams were led by Deloatch’s 11 points and Daye’s seven.
The Lady Rams will step back into conference play this Tuesday as they host KIPP Pride.
