AHOSKIE – An employee of the Belk store in Ahoskie is facing 33 felony counts.
According to Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh, officers were called to the department store on Memorial Drive in reference to an employee allegedly taking items from the store.
“Upon investigation, the evidence led us to charge him,” Fitzhugh said.
Jawan Atwan Robinson, 22, of Catherine Street in Ahoskie was charged with 11 counts of felony larceny by employee, 11 counts of felony embezzlement and 11 counts of felony obtaining property by false pretences Thursday.
He was placed in the Hertford County Detention Center under a $33,000 secured bond.
Fitzhugh commended Ahoskie Patrolmen Jeffrey Woodard for handling the investigation and Lt. William Benton for his assistance.
Other individuals could be charged in connection with the incident, according to the chief.
