Woman, child killed in Wednesday crash

SEABOARD – A woman and child died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 186 outside Seaboard Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Tammi Mason, 37, and Tavion Mason, 10, both of Garysburg.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. and preliminary information from an investigation by Trooper T.C. Wood of the state Highway Patrol shows the vehicles involved were both traveling east on Highway 186. One attempted to turn left into a private drive while the one behind it attempted to pass, striking the turning vehicle in the rear.
The vehicle in which the deceased were in lost control and struck a tree.
