WINDSOR – Voters will have a choice for both seats on the Bertie County Board of Education ballot this fall.
Filing for the two spots closed at 12 noon Friday.
One name that will not be on the ballot, however, is that of current School Board Chair Gloria Lee. Lee chose not see another term on the board representing District 5.
The other incumbent board member did file as Pamela Chamblee decided to seek a second term representing District 1. Chamblee will be opposed in the election by retired Bertie Early College High School Principal Bobby Occena.
Occena filed on June 11 for the seat and Chamblee filed Thursday, a day before filing ended.
There will also be two names on the ballot for the District 5 seat being vacated by Lee.
Tarsha Bush Dudley will seek the seat as a newcomer to the school board as will Arthur “Artie” Johnson.
The school board seats, which are non-partisan, will be on the November 6 General Election ballot.
Also on the ballot will be a supervisor position for Soil and Water Conservation. Incumbent John M. Griffin filed to retain that seat. No challengers filed.
