WILLIAMSTON – A man wanted for an attempted bank robbery in Bertie County could be the same individual who robbed a convenience store here later the same day.
Bertie County Sheriff John Holley said he is confident the man both law enforcement agencies are looking for is Randolph Hyman Jr., AKA “Tree Top”, whose last known address is in Williamston.
“I feel certain the same person was involved in the Roxobel incident is the man who robbed the convenience store,” Holley said.
According to witn.com, a man held up the Wilco Hess on East Boulevard Wednesday night. The website said the person working in the store described the assailant as having long dread locks, wearing a black hoodie and a red bandana over his face.
Earlier in the day, a person entered Southern Bank in Roxobel (Main Street) and passed a note to tellers demanding money, but did not display any type of weapon.
Holley said the teller did not hand over any money and the man exited the main and was last seen walking east on Main street.
The sheriff, however, believes the suspect got away in a vehicle which was possibly a gold, four-door small passenger car.
Hyman is described as standing 6’ tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He is 23 years old.
Anyone with information as to Hyman’s whereabouts should call the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office at 794-5330.
