MURFREESBORO – Juliette Porter Liverman, 94, a resident of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Courtland Health Care Center in Courtland, Virginia.
She was born in Newsoms, Virginia on April 25, 1918. She was the daughter of George Washington Porter and Estelle Ellis Porter. She attended Newsoms High School. Juliette was married to Vavassor Jackson Liverman on November 8, 1941 for 42 years.
She spent her working career in Murfreesboro, working with Peebles Department Store for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Lioness Club and Murfreesboro Baptist Church. One of her joys in life was visits from her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V. J. Liverman; daughter, Jackie L. Barnes; son, George Ashley (Buck) Liverman; brothers, Robert Porter and Carroll Porter; sister, Lilly Johnson; and son-in law, Dick Whitley.
Juilette is survived by one daughter, Crystal Liverman Whitley of Murfreesboro; nine grand children, Sharon Whitley Isley of Murfreesboro, Sandra Banks and husband, Allan, of Chesapeake, VA, Kathy Thompson and husband, Lee, of Murfreesboro, Kelli Whitley of Troy, NC, Jenny Bennett and husband, Dennis, of Murfreesboro, Jeany Flythe and husband, Jame,s of Roanoke Rapids, Jack Liverman and wife, Joyce, of Roanoke Rapids, Jeff Liverman and wife, Kendra, of Annapolis, MD, and Ashley Barnes of Washington, DC; 18 great-grandchildren, Jordan Isley, Kayla Oliver and husband Trey, Blake Isley, Logan Banks and wife Melissa, Hunter Banks, Allie Banks, Kaitlyn Thompson, Danielle Thompson, Kaycee Cochran, Ryland Flythe, Tyler Liverman, Rachel Bennett, Cassidy Goff, Cody Liverman, Morgan Flythe, Alex Liverman, Brayden Liverman and Grayson Liverman;one great-great-grandchild, Landon Oliver; daughter-in-law, Ellen Liverman of Murfreesboro; and son-in-law, Johnny Barnes of Potecasi.
A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service Chapel in Ahoskie, NC with Rev. Dr. Franklin Lowe officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m.
