How about a magnificent day of golf with great competition, an awesome lunch, and a great afternoon, complete with Hors D’ oeuvres with awards and great prizes?

If this sounds like a great outing, then now the time to register for the 9th Annual Arthur Lee Wiggins Memorial Golf Tournament.  The event will held June 28 at the Beechwood Country Club and is sponsored by the Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce.

Come out and compete against some of the elite golfers in the region, and find out who has all the bragging rights for the best team for 2013.

And all the while, you get to play through one the loveliest golf courses around with its majestic trees, spectacular greens; play around the all water, and sand hazards to achieve your dream of being crowned team champions of the Wiggins Memorial.

June afternoons promises to be warm in Eastern North Carolina, so to keep all the competitors cool the Chamber will have refreshment carts making their way around the course and activities all afternoon. They will be serving all your favorite snacks, water and beverages.

“This is a great tournament for individual teams and, company sponsored teams. This is one of our major fund raisers of the year for the Chamber and proceeds will go sponsor all the Ahoskie Chamber events throughout the year,” says, Dan Joyner, Executive Vice President of the Ahoskie Chamber Of Commerce.

There is a super ball format and tee time is at 1:00 p.m. The entry fee is $250 per team.

To start the event rolling there will be a grand sandwich buffet which includes all the trimmings. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:45 a.m. The event will conclude with tournament awards being presented.  There will be all types of great door prizes donated by area businesses and then feast on some of the best Hors D’oeuvres you’ll find in the Roanoke-Chowan area.

Last year was my first involvement with the Arthur Lee Wiggins Memorial Golf Tournament and I will assure everyone it is a very organized and fun event. Unseasonably hot weather last year with the temperatures hovering in the triple digits made it a long hot day for all the golfers. However, all the competitors agreed they had an amazing outing and most vowed to return for another opportunity to claim their chance at becoming the 2013 champions.

Last year the tournament was held in late July due to several rain delays caused be tropical weather. The Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors made a clever move to re-date the tournament for June 28 this year.
