AHOSKIE – The Ahoskie Police Department is investigating two robberies that occurred within hours of each other.
According to Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh, an armed robbery occurred at approximately 10:29 p.m. on Thursday at Duck Thru #3 located on Highway 561.
Two armed robbers, one wearing a blue bandanna and the other a black bandanna to cover their faces, came into the store demanding money.
“One (of the suspects) pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded cash,” Fitzhugh said. “After the money was given to the suspects they ran out the front door and to the back of the building.”
He added it is believed the robbers got into a vehicle located in the truck parking area at the back of the building and fled the scene.
The two cashiers on duty were not harmed. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.
“Duck Thru as offered $1,000 reward to those who provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of these suspects,” Fitzhugh said.
Officer Stephen White is the investigating officer.
On Friday morning, the Police Department responded to a call regarding a breaking and entering at Ahoskie Pediatrics located on Sunset Street.
Fitzhugh said it appears the suspect or suspects tried to break in at a door and when that failed a window was smashed to gain entry.
“During the investigation it was found an undetermined amount of US currency was stolen,” he said.
Lt. Jeremy Roberts is the investigating officer.
Fitzhugh urged those with information on these robberies to contact the investigating officers at (252) 332-5012.
