Ahoskie curfew lifted

The emergency declaration by the Town of Ahoskie, and its accompanying curfew, has been lifted.
Town officials made that determination during a meeting earlier today (Thursday). The curfew was originally in place from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. today. Town officials said they no longer saw the need for a curfew after the passage of the winter storm that dumped up to six inches in some parts of the Roanoke-Chowan area. Thanks to Wednesday night’s rainfall and rising temperatures, that snow turned to slush Thursday morning, thus improving driving conditions locally.
R-C area residents are reminded that another round of snow is in store for later today and tonight. The National Weather Service is calling for at least one inch of new snow, with higher amounts (up to 3 inches) possible in some locations. Please exercise caution on the local roadways.
There’s another chance of snow showers Friday night into Saturday morning. Little or no accumulation is expected.
