WINTON – Mr. Kenneth Daniel Powers, 74, husband of the late Madgaline W. Powers and a resident of Winton, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

Mr. Powers served in the United States Army and retired from Moon Engineering.

He is survived by two step-daughters, Debra Zartman of Suffolk, VA, and Sherry Boorsma of Virginia Beach, VA; a step-son, Robert Wilson of South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Sean Boorsma of Virginia Beach, VA and his children, Sydney and Payton Boorsma, and Kyle Boorsma of Moyock, NC and his son, Kameron Boorsma. He was predeceased by a brother.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at 6309 East Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502 with Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood officiating.
